Q: What advice do you have for a WBE attending their first Conference?

Attend the First Time Attendee session, it’s invaluable. Ask fellow WBEs about their first conference and best practices for the show; their experience and information will be invaluable. My fellow WBEs are inspiring; I am so charged after conferences that I feel like I could conquer the world!

Q: Why are you excited about being a part of the Host Committee?

The women that are on the Host Committee are truly amazing. I’m honored to partner and work together to create a successful conference with this team.

Q: What are some of the bigger challenges and barriers you’ve faced as a business owner? How have you overcome them?

I would say that my story is no different than many small business owners, especially women, and that is funding. We’ve found that the small independent banks are in favor of seeing small business succeed, and they are committed to strong relationships with those companies.

Q: What guiding words would you like to share with a newly certified WBE who is looking to get involved in the WBENC community?

Just because you have a certification does not mean contracts will fall in your lap. You will get out of your certification what you put into it. Attend everything you can, network at the events, and don’t discount the other WBEs- they may be your next client.
